WASHING SYMBOLS

- This symbol indicates whether the garment is suitable for machine washing. The number inside the tub indicates the recommended wash temperature and the bar underneath it indicates the agitation level

- A washtub with no bar indicates that you can use maximum action with a normal spin. The number shows it can be washed at a maximum temperature of 30°C.

- A washtub with one bar indicates that you should use a synthetic wash, which will wash with medium agitation. The number shows that the garment can be washed at a maximum temperature of 30°C.

- A washtub with two bars indicates that the garment should be washed as wool, which will reduce machine action to a normal spin. The number shows that it can be washed at a maximum temperature of 30°C.

- This symbol indicates that the garment is suitable for hand wash only. The garment is too delicate for machine washing. Ensure that the water temperature is cool before washing.

- This symbol indicates that the garment is unsuitable for washing. It is usually accompanied by dry cleaning instructions.
DRYING SYMBOLS

- This symbol indicates that the garment is suitable for tumble drying. Other symbols show how best to dry your garments naturally.

- This symbol indicates that you can tumble dry the garment, but only at a low heat setting.

- This symbol indicates that you can tumble dry the garment, at a medium heat setting

- This symbol indicates that you can tumble dry the garment, at a high heat setting.

- This symbol indicates that the garment is unsuitable for tumble drying. It is usually accompanied by an alternative drying method symbol.

- This symbol indicates that you should hang or line-dry the garment, after removing excess water.

- This symbol indicates that drip drying is recommended for the garment.

- This symbol indicates that the garment should be laid flat to dry. It is usually for delicate clothes that could be distorted by vertical drying.

- This symbol indicates that you must not wring the garment.
IRONING SYMBOLS

- This symbol indicates the temperature at which the garment should best be ironed. The more dots visible the hotter the iron temperature may be.

- One dot indicates a cool iron temperature of 110°C. This is appropriate for acrylics, nylons and acetates.

- Two dots indicate a warm iron temperature of 150°C. This is appropriate for polyester mixes and wool garments.

- Three dots indicate a hot iron temperature of 200°C. This is appropriate for cottons and linens.

- This symbol indicates that the garment is unsuitable for ironing.
DRYING CLEANING SYMBOLS

- The dry cleaning symbol contains a letter, which refers to the solvent suitable for the garment. A bar underneath the circle indicates that a milder process should be used.

- The "P" indicates that the garment should be dry cleaned, using perchloroetheylene solvent. This is the most commonly used solvent.

- This symbol indicates that the garment is unsuitable for dry cleaning.
BLEACHING SYMBOLS

- Strong liquid bleach is most commonly used for disinfectant and, unlike colour safe bleaches used in detergents, it will remove the colour from your clothes. It is very important to check that the garment may be bleached.

- The symbol indicates that the garment must not be bleached.
DO
- - Read the care label and washing instructions. Take your garments to a reputable dry cleaner or specialist leather cleaner.
- - Organise your laundry. Group similar wash care garments and sort into whites, darks and colours.
- - Turn your garment inside out before washing.
- - Make sure you use the correct washing temperature. If unsure, always wash at a lower rather that a higher temperature.
- - Rinse until water runs clear after hand washing your garments
- - Dry as stated on the washing instructions.
- - Take care when ironing. Always follow the instructions on the care label and iron on the reverse of any prints.
DO NOT
- - Overload the washing machine.
- - Leave garments with white and coloured panels soaking for prolonged periods.
- - Soak any garments with metal fasteners.
- - Use too much detergent or fabric detergents containing bleach
- - Spin any wool, acetate, viscose or mix garments.
- - Tumble dry garments unless stated on the care label
- - Iron directly on trims or prints.
